the beach involved a masonry chicane. This was February weather!

free bar of custom Tartan Trail chocolate did much to keep out
the East Lothian chill factor.
This
is a normally tranquil ford at the entrance to one of our favourite
woods. A combination of melting snow and sudden rain combined to
turn it into a deep, and rather more worrying, very strong torrent.
With a steep drop off a rock ledge on the downstream side the decision
was made to miss the forest. However a sacrificial 'test run' was
done first just to see if it was as bad as it looked. It was!
